1. Preparation Before Installation
Start by preparing the wall surface and materials to ensure smooth installation. First, clean the wall thoroughly to remove dust, grease, and any loose debris-an unclean surface will affect adhesion. Ensure the wall is flat, dry, and free of cracks; use spackle to fill small gaps and sand the surface until smooth. Next, gather all tools and materials: PS wall panels, measuring tape, utility knife, level, pencil, adhesive (for glue-up installation) or self-adhesive backing (pre-applied panels), and a roller or press tool. Let the PS panels acclimate to the room temperature for 24 hours to prevent warping during installation.
2. Core Installation Steps
Begin by measuring the wall height and width accurately, then mark the dimensions on the PS panels with a pencil and level. Use a utility knife to cut the panels to size-score the surface first, then bend and snap for a clean cut. For glue-up installation, apply a thin, even layer of adhesive to the back of the panel (avoid excess to prevent seepage) and press it firmly against the wall, starting from the bottom corner. Use a roller to press out air bubbles and ensure full adhesion. For interlocking panels, align the tongue of one panel with the groove of the previous one, press firmly until locked in place, and check with a level to keep panels straight.
3. Finishing & Notes
After installing all panels, trim any excess material around outlets or corners with a utility knife. Use caulk to fill small gaps between panels and the ceiling/floor for a seamless look. Allow the adhesive to dry completely (24-48 hours) before touching or decorating the panels. Note: Avoid installing PS panels in outdoor or extremely humid areas without proper sealing; ensure the wall can support the lightweight panels (no structural reinforcement needed for standard installations). Following these steps, you can achieve a professional, long-lasting finish in just one to two days.
